This private practice is purposefully operated on a small scale to ensure clients experience minimal waiting times for initial and follow-up appointments. Weekly clinics are held during daytime hours only with no evenings available at this time. Sessions are ordinarily 50 minutes in duration, at a mutually agreed upon time and frequency.
The fee for each session is $160.00 with a sliding scale to $130.00 for those with limited insurance benefits. Payment can be made by cash, credit card or cheque and must be received in full at the time of the appointment. Receipts are provided for clients who wish to request reimbursement from their insurance company or for use with annual income tax as a medical expense.
Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
If clients need to cancel or reschedule a session at least 24 hours notice must be provided, as that slot could be utilized by another client. Please note that 24-hour advance cancellation or rescheduling of appointments is required to avoid being billed for the session. Cancelling or rescheduling an appointment within the 24-hour time frame, or failing to attend an appointment, will result in being charged the full session fee. Insurance plans & third party providers do not cover cancellation fees which are the responsibility of the client.
Due to the fact this service is an independent private practice, "on call" or emergency coverage is unable to be provided to clients. If an urgent mental health issue should arise, please contact the NSHA Mental Health & Addictions Crisis Line at 1-888-429-8167 (24hrs., 7 days a week). You can also call 911 or visit the nearest Emergency Department at a local hospital.
If you plan to bill through your health insurance it's best to find out the following information as your first step in arranging therapy services. Counselling or psychotherapy are reimbursable through many private health insurance plans and third party providers. Direct billing is available through Medavie Blue Cross, NIHB, WCB, and Green Shield/Provider Connect. Clients are responsible to know the details of their insurance coverage and whether or not counselling services with a clinical social worker is covered by their insurance plan.
